GOT QUESTIONS?

Things people often ask us

What do these certifications qualify me to do?

These programs certify academic knowledge only. They do not license you to practice as a farrier, trainer, or veterinarian in the field. They are designed to deepen understanding so you can communicate better with your vet/farrier and make safer, evidence-based decisions.

Do I need prior experience with horses or veterinary training?

No prior credential is required. We write for motivated owners and students, and we go deep enough to benefit working professionals. If you're brand new, our primers on vital signs are a great start.

How are the certifications structured?

Each program includes a Certification Manual, complementary study flashcards, and an open-book, 100-question online exam. You must achieve 100% to pass (you can retake missed questions).

Who issues the certificate?

Certificates are issued in partnership with Pacific Coast Horseshoeing School (PCHS) — North America's #1 horseshoeing school. Your digital certificate lists your name, program title, completion date, and certificate ID.

Can these count toward Continuing Education (CE)?

Select content is approved for CE with the International Association of Professional Farriers (IAPF). Contact us before enrolling so we can point you to the right modules and documentation.

Are the courses self-paced? How long do they take?

Yes — fully self-paced. Most learners complete a manual in 6–12 hours and the exam in 45–60 minutes, but you can move faster or slower based on your background.

Is the exam graded automatically? Can I retake it?

Yes. You'll see which questions you missed and can immediately retake until you reach 100%. The goal is mastery, not test anxiety.

Can I print the materials?

Yes. Manuals are printable; we also include printer-friendly flashcards and infographic posters. See our Equine Study Materials.

What study materials are included?

Every certification includes the manual plus printable flashcards. Members also get access to weekly articles and our classic resources like Average Heart Rate for a Horse.
