About Our Library

Our curated collection spans from the late 17th century to the early 20th century, offering a comprehensive look at how equine care and management evolved over the centuries. Some of these rare books have been scanned from private collections, while others are public historical domain.

These textbooks represent a form of heritage knowledge passed down through generations of equine care practitioners. Recognized as critical to understanding the development of veterinary science, horsemanship, and equine care, these texts offer invaluable insights into traditional practices, many of which have shaped today's equine world.

Due to their age, many of these textbooks' content does not reflect the current scientific consensus on equine care and management. Additionally, it may seem like a disproportionate number of these texts is on "farriery." Please note that historically, the figures of the farrier and the veterinarian were the same. While textbooks on farriery contain information on horseshoeing, they are considered texts on veterinary science.

About Our Library

Our curated collection spans from the late 17th century to the early 20th century, offering a comprehensive look at how equine care and management evolved over the centuries. Some of these rare books have been scanned from private collections, while others are public historical domain.

These textbooks preserve heritage knowledge passed down through generations of equine care practitioners. They provide valuable insights into the evolution of veterinary science, horsemanship, and equine care, showcasing traditional practices that have shaped the modern equine world.

Due to their age, many of these textbooks reflect outdated scientific views on equine care and management. A notable portion focuses on "farriery," a field historically combining the roles of farrier and veterinarian. While these texts discuss horseshoeing, they are also regarded as foundational works in veterinary science.
